As daunting as it is starting my own business, there was so much to consider, I knew the biggest decision that I had to make was which laser hair removal system I was going to get. Now that I’ve been in the industry for several years, I have seen many different types of machines, I’ve been to spa shows, looking on websites, visiting different suppliers and I believe (to a certain extent) that every machine has its place in the industry. For myself, I knew what I wanted out of a system. I wanted a laser hair removal system that provides safety, comfort and results. I wanted something that was easier to maintain; I wanted a system that will be comfortable for both myself and my clients, I wanted it to be time efficient and I wanted something from a company that was well known. In my career I have worked with several lasers from different companies and I have worked with all three laser types. The laser types being the Alexandrite laser, the Diode laser, and the YAG laser.
When I first saw The GentleMax Pro, I thought ‘oh my goodness this machine is gigantic!’ It takes up a lot of space and it’s really heavy. However, providing and getting the treatments is very straightforward and very efficient. I will say from my own experience that the GentleMax Pro is probably one of the easier most comfortable laser systems to use and maintain as a technician. Another laser system that was in second place was the Soprano Platinum by Alma lasers. Now I have worked with the Soprano before, the Soprano Ice which is a phenomenal system. It is only a diode laser, but again a very good machine. The problem that I experienced with the Soprano was how long the appointments can take, and how much effort physically I had to put in for each appointment; for example, it would take me nearly sixty minutes to do a full leg laser hair removal appointment, the constant sweeping motion in my arm would cause me discomfort for a few days especially when I had laser appointments with the Soprano. The Soprano although a good system really takes a lot out of me physically, now I don’t want to complain, but if I have the opportunity to get a Laser system that was easier on me physically that I was going to consider that.
When it was time to make my final decision on which laser system I was going to get I use the simple method of a pros and cons list and because there were two lasers that I was looking at seriously. I did the pros and cons for both systems, the pros for the GentleMax Pro were so much longer than the pros for the Soprano, so visually being able to see that I knew what my decision had to be. I went with a GentleMax Pro I called the rep, we secured the contact and my laser system was on the way.
What’s great about the GentleMax Pro is the efficiency and result driven treatments it can provide. Some of you may not know, but the GentleMax Pro offers different treatments. The treatments that I can offer is pigmentation reduction, skin tightening, and diffusing redness, so not only is this system great for laser hair removal it can also provide other treatments that my clients are looking to get. I am extremely happy with my GentleMax Pro. One thing that I have discovered in having the GentleMax Pro is that I am confident in providing treatments on myself. I tried for the first-time doing laser hair removal on my face, now before I could not do that with other systems because with the ultrasound gel, and with the hand pieces being larger, the awkwardness of placing the laser on my face, it was just not something that I was comfortable to do on myself. With the GentleMax Pro, I can confidently treat myself because I can manipulate the spot size it was actually a fairly easy process though uncomfortable because I can only use my iPad to actually see myself because mirrors are not allowed in the laser room but I got over it pretty quickly and I did a great job so that was a surprise bonus that I discovered a few weeks ago. In conclusion, I love my GentleMax Pro! My clients love it too and it’s been a beautiful relationship so far and definitely one that will be long term.
