- Best For: Improving rough texture, mild acne, and minimal signs of sun damage. They penetrate only the outermost layer of the skin (epidermis).
- Downtime: Little to none. You might experience temporary redness and slight flaking. These can be done frequently to maintain results.
Medium Peels
- What They Are: These peels use stronger acids, typically trichloroacetic acid (TCA), often in combination with other ingredients.
- Best For: Addressing moderate skin concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, freckles, and moderate sun damage. They penetrate the outer and middle layers of skin (epidermis and upper dermis).
- Downtime: A few days to a week. Expect significant redness, swelling, and noticeable peeling.
Deep Peels
- What They Are: These use the strongest chemicals, such as high concentrations of phenol. Due to their intensity, they require significant preparation and recovery.
- Best For: Treating deep wrinkles, significant sun damage, scars, and pre-cancerous growths. They penetrate deeply into the middle layer of the skin (dermis).
